By taking random paint marks, patterns, day to day images, allowing accidents and by responding to them, this acts as a springboard to my imagination, much like one does when daydreaming and doodling whilst on the phone. I constantly revolve the canvas (There is no way up
Always exploring new ways to apply and manipulate paint, from time spend abroad I have picked up painting methods from other cultures. Eg. using syringes like the henna artists in Morocco or piping like the lacquer workers in Chang Mai. I apply using brushes, piping bags, tubes, knives, fingers, credit cards, quill, stick, whatever is to hand. I splash, spray, stencil, drip, dribble, and squeeze the paint or ink directly onto fully or partly primed canvas. Paint is also picked or sanded off, also cutting through the canvas to the space behind. This results in interesting shadows and multi layered interaction.
My surroundings greatly influence the content and appearance for example colours combinations, symbols, patterns, phrases and newsprint from the time spent in different cultures can be found juxtaposed with my own eg. shopping lists, what I was listening to on the radio, what I drunk the night before or may favourite nail varnish.
The more you look the more you will see!

God made men first. Then he had a better idea!
